Information & Preparations

Things to do before you attend the Rising Dragon Martial Arts School.

Training

To make it easier for yourself when you start training at our School, before you attend, you should try and do some of the following exercises: Squats, Push-ups, Sit-ups, Bike riding, Swimming, Short Sprints, Long Distance Running, Hiking, Gymnastics, Aerobics, Yoga or Daily Stretching.

Clothing
Most of the time you will be Training so you will mostly need Tracksuit bottoms, T-shirts, Shorts, Vests, Sweat Shirts. On your days off there are lots of beautiful places to visit in and around the Taining area so bring some casual clothes too, such as jeans and shirts. If you are coming in the winter months then you will want to bring some warm cloths too, such as Hat, Scarf, Gloves and a Coat.

Generally Clothes are cheap in China and will probably be cheaper than your home country so you might want to think of just bringing the essentials and buy some extras when you arrive in China.

Insect Repellents
In the summer months there are Mosquitoes about so you might want to bring some repellents with you.

Vaccinations/Inoculations

For a start Malaria is a low level risk in Taining but insect repellents would be a good idea. The following Immunisations are recommended to potential students: Diphtheria, Hepatitis A, Tetanus, Japanese Encephalitis and Typhoid. The following are voluntary: BCG (TB Tuberculosis), Hepatitis B, Polio and Rabies. Also recommended are some useful medicines, such as those for colds, diarrhoea and constipation.

Travel/Medical Insurance
If you travel outside your home country for business or pleasure, your domestic health care plans may not be designed to provide coverage while you are out of the country. A travel insurance policy is a very good idea. It is possibly the best way to protect you against medical costs related to illness or injury, and against theft or loss of possessions and other accidents that may occur during your time in China. With this in mind, we recommend that you purchase necessary travel insurance, which provides coverage for international travellers.

Visa
We can send you an Invitation letter to help you acquire a 6 month visa and if needed we can extend your visa in China. If you are staying for 3 months or less then we recommend you to go directly to your local Chinese Embassy and ask for a 3 month tourist Visa.

Taining Weather
Taining has semi-tropical weather. The highest temperature in the summer reaching 34°C and the lowest temperature in the winter going below -5°C. However, because our school is in the mountains of Taining, the summer is cooler than in the town.
