Vaccinations/Inoculations

For a start Malaria is NOT a risk in our area or anywhere close to us but insect repellents are recommended for the summer months. The following are recommended by several health clinics from around the world to anyone traveling to China: Hepatitis A, B and Typhoid.

Taining has never had any disease outbreaks and is relatively a clean town, because we are a rural area of China you may be recommended to have Japanese Encephalitis although Taining has never had any cases of that disease so it is optional.

Although yellow fever is not a disease risk in China, the government requires travelers arriving from countries where yellow fever is present-to-present proof of yellow fever vaccination. If you will be traveling to one of these countries where yellow fever is present before arriving in China, this requirement must be taken into consideration.

Training

To make it easier for yourself when you start at RDS, before you attend you should try and do some of the following exercises; Squats, Push-ups, Sit-ups, Pull-ups, Bike riding, Swimming, Sprints, Long distance running, Hiking, Gymnastics, Aerobics, Yoga or daily stretching.

Clothing

Most of the time you will be training so you will mostly need training clothes such as Tracksuits, T-shirts, Shorts, Vests and sweat shirts etc.

On your days off there are lots of beautiful scenic spots to visit in and around the Taining area so bring some casual clothes too. If you are attending RDS during the winter months (Nov, Dec, Jan, Feb) then you will want to bring some warm clothes such as hat, scarf, gloves and a warm coat/jacket.

You can also buy training clothes/shoes here at RDS!

Local weather

Taining has semi-tropical weather, the average temperature in the summer reaches around 35°C but as been known to reach 40°C and the lowest temperature in the winter on average is around -5°C during the evening. (RDS has central heating during the winter months)

Travel/Medical Insurance

Medical costs locally are very cheap and our students very rarely have to go to hospital apart from a common cold now and again but you never know what is around the corner so we recommend in case of serious accident or illness/injury that you carry out a full medical/travel insurance for your duration of time with us and time spent travelling. Plus your insurance will also cover you for the inconvenience of theft or loss of possessions.
