Frequently Asked Questions
  1. How do I get to the Rising Dragon School? The easiest and cheapest way to get here is to take an international flight to Shanghai and then from Shanghai catch the coach direct into Taining Town. Also see How to get to RDS or Download the RDS Travel doc for more details.
  2. How much extra money will I need once the tuition is paid? This is very difficult to answer obviously because everyone spends differently however for the essentials like water, snacks, fruit, toiletries etc and then going on day trips once in a while we recommend between 400 to 800 Yuan per month with the latter being for the big spenders.
  3. You have so many styles to choose from, can I train in all of them? For short term students we recommended to choose one discipline, train hard and take the most from that style. Some of our long-term students have trained in 1 style for 6+ months and in another style for 6+ months splitting their time up between 2 different groups/styles.
  4. Do you have specific start dates? No, as long as we have availability for your preferred start date we will reserve a place for you.
  5. Are you open during Christmas and Chinese New Year? Yes, we are open all year round but during Chinese New Year our Masters will have 1 - 2 weeks home leave. RDS students will keep training as normal while their masters are not present!

  6. Can I have my own room or is it sharing? I heard that other schools in China have 3-4 people sharing a small room? Students who stay 1 year or longer get their own room while all other students share 2 per room or 3 per room in our winter accommodation (These rooms are much larger). Short-term students who want the privacy of a single room can so at the rate of 1000 Yuan per month.
  7. What is the min and max amount of time I can stay for? As long as you train hard, have a good attitude and follow the school rules you can stay here as long as you wish.
  8. Is there any language requirement to attend your school? No, sometimes there will be translators to help you during lessons but once you get started the language barrier is no problem at all.
  9. I am a vegetarian can you cater for me? Yes, we have had lots of vegetarians attend our school.
  10. I have no martial arts experience at all can I still attend? Yes, you have to start your training somewhere so why not here under the watchful eyes of great masters.
  11. Am I too old to attend your school? No, we have had students in their 60’s attend our school with no problems. As long as you have good general health and no major illness then you are suitable.
  12. Can we have a discount if we book as a group? Yes, if you are 5 or more people please contact us and we will arrange a discount for your duration of stay.
  13. Can I share a room with my partner? Yes, as long as it does not interfere with your training this is no problem.
